Spent some time recently creating a lino print for my Mam. My Granda was a miner, so my Mam has a great fondness for any related artefacts. This piece is getting wrapped up for Christmas, can't wait for her to open it.
Once again I assisted Steph on a fashion film shoot, this time in the woods. We spent a few weeks making props, a task which seemed pretty much never ending but was also great fun! On the day I was on hand to document the filming and help prepare the location. I have to say the final edit of the film is amazing and I am ever so proud of my wonderfully talented sister-in-law to be.
I've recently turned my attention to fixing up an old banjolele given to me by a friend, it has been a lovely little project and quite a learning curve! There's a lot of sentimental value attached to this instrument and it's something I will cherish and enjoy for many years to come.
Last weekend I took part in 'Transfer'. A series of artist workshops held in Sunderland city centre, demonstrating the creative process and getting members of the public involved in creating their own piece of work. I hosted a collage workshop and was over the moon with the response. Thoroughly enjoyable day, something I would love to do again! More info over at transferexhibition.blogspot.co.uk
This week... I had an interview on Wednesday for a job through Newcastle, working within a team creating educational podcasts. I spent the first half of the week preparing myself and my portfolio, and the second half of the week celebrating!!! I was lucky enough to be accepted and can not wait to get started!!! Over the moon x
Today is my Mam's birthday, so last week I spent my time drawing her a portrait of my brother and I when we were younger. Although the photograph was taken about 23 years ago, I still really struggled to draw myself. I also find my brother very challenging as we have very similar features. However after days of persevering I eventually got there, and am over the moon with the results. I am so excited to see my Mam's face when she opens it! x
On a recent walk in the woods, we found an abandoned cable reel, which obviously ended up coming home with us, as these things do. It seems relatively new but has quite a bit character, and once it's had a bit of a clean, will make the perfect guinea pig proof coffee table!
Today I decided to take a break from the ever so depressing job hunt, and took a little walk along the Wear. We saw some lovely little boats, which kind of makes me need a job even more, so I can afford such a luxury myself!
Nice tidy workspace in preparation for tomorrow's list making! This year I aim to forge some sort of career for myself as I leave my student days behind. I actually have quite a good feeling about this one. 2013 I am ready for you!
