Off to the woods...

Forest…
We had a lovely walk amongst the trees on a beautifully crisp day. Blowing the cobwebs away.

...

It's been a while…
Spent some time recently creating a lino print for my Mam. My Granda was a miner, so my Mam has a great fondness for any related artefacts. This piece is getting wrapped up for Christmas, can't wait for her to open it.

One cold day in April...

One cold day in April...
Once again I assisted Steph on a fashion film shoot, this time in the woods. We spent a few weeks making props, a task which seemed pretty much never ending but was also great fun! On the day I was on hand to document the filming and help prepare the location. I have to say the final edit of the film is amazing and I am ever so proud of my wonderfully talented sister-in-law to be.

Minou Jetel 8...
I've recently turned my attention to fixing up an old banjolele given to me by a friend, it has been a lovely little project and quite a learning curve! There's a lot of sentimental value attached to this instrument and it's something I will cherish and enjoy for many years to come.

Transfer...
Last weekend I took part in 'Transfer'. A series of artist workshops held in Sunderland city centre, demonstrating the creative process and getting members of the public involved in creating their own piece of work. I hosted a collage workshop and was over the moon with the response. Thoroughly enjoyable day, something I would love to do again! More info over at transferexhibition.blogspot.co.uk

This week...
I had an interview on Wednesday for a job through Newcastle, working within a team creating educational podcasts. I spent the first half of the week preparing myself and my portfolio, and the second half of the week celebrating!!! I was lucky enough to be accepted and can not wait to get started!!! Over the moon x

Making apples...
This week I have been looking into helping create some props for a fashion shoot, and this is prototype number one. Although I like it's form I don't think it will be suitable on film.

New Flyers...
Been making a few flyers to dish out here and there as a means of advertising myself! I sat very patiently this morning trimming flyer after flyer, canny pleased with the final result.

Happy Birthday Mam...
Today is my Mam's birthday, so last week I spent my time drawing her a portrait of my brother and I when we were younger. Although the photograph was taken about 23 years ago, I still really struggled to draw myself. I also find my brother very challenging as we have very similar features. However after days of persevering I eventually got there, and am over the moon with the results. I am so excited to see my Mam's face when she opens it! x

Oh dear...
Found this poor little chap when walking along Roker beach. Also collected some lovely pieces of driftwood, looking forward to using them in some way!

Pencil sketch...
Created as a gift for a friend's 30th birthday, a pencil sketch of his two children. Really pleased with how it turned out! It all went very smoothly and has left me feeling rather encouraged!
I am also keeping a collection of work over at Facebook.com/annawelshillustration if you would like to check it out! Cheers x

Found...
On a recent walk in the woods, we found an abandoned cable reel, which obviously ended up coming home with us, as these things do. It seems relatively new but has quite a bit character, and once it's had a bit of a clean, will make the perfect guinea pig proof coffee table!

The Forth...
Two framed illustrations ready to be packed off to their new home, The Forth public house in Newcastle. I took quite a simple approach, using both collage and sewing.

Cox Green...
Today I decided to take a break from the ever so depressing job hunt, and took a little walk along the Wear. We saw some lovely little boats, which kind of makes me need a job even more, so I can afford such a luxury myself!

Hurray...
Nice tidy workspace in preparation for tomorrow's list making! This year I aim to forge some sort of career for myself as I leave my student days behind. I actually have quite a good feeling about this one. 2013 I am ready for you!

Recent commission...
Two portraits, acrylic paint on canvas, commissioned just before Christmas to be given as gifts.
Happy New Year folks! Wishing you all the very best for 2013!
