Traces...
'A touring art exhibition exploring the material nature of journeys'
I was contacted in January and asked if I would like to produce an artist book displayed in a suitcase, to be exhibited in train stations across the North of England. Hence the recent updates regarding suitcases. I decided to base my case around the idea of items washed up onto the beach, each having made their own journey, and also having being collected as souvenirs of my own trips.Below are some photographs of my case, finished images to come later, I have one little bit to install then some final touches.

Suitcase...
Back panel installed. Just realised I haven't posted any photos of my case before I began modifying it, that's my next post sorted! Also expect more information on the exhibition itself!

Back panel...
I've been working on the back panel of my suitcase today, been working on hardboard so it will just slot into the lid easily. The project is really coming together now that it's reached the assembly stage. Will be really quite sad when it's finished, been right up my street :) x

Traces...
Trying to whittle down this little collection of found items to go inside my suitcase for the 'Traces' exhibition. All of the items were found on Roker beach and I love each and every one! Really struggling to make a decision, shame they all won't fit! Also need to secure them so they can't go walk about! Hmm...

Traces...
Spent the day kitting out my suitcase for the 'Traces' exhibition, been lining the interior this afternoon. A task which was brought to a halt by little Marlon and his love of boxed in spaces. As the work has a nautical theme I lined the case with both blue and white striped fabric and canvas sail cloth, I'm half way round securing the edges, however something tells me I won't be making anymore progress this evening. Will update shortly with the finished piece.

 Emmie and Brian...
This is a little drawing of my Gran and my Dad in the 1950's, copied from my favourite photograph. Supposed to be a Father's day present but I'm too excited to keep it a surprise! x

On the Sands at Roker...
Working on an artist book project today for a forthcoming exhibition, I adore each of these items, all found on walks along beach (except the bottom left, this was given to me as a gift from a friend).

From Roker...
A selection of postcards sent from Sunderland in the early 1900's. Quite a fascinating insight into somebody's journey.
