Allotment...
A quick painting on hardboard, using acrylic paints, showing different features within an allotment, in quite a childlike manner.

Garden Blue...
Same sort of idea as the Garden Green book I put together, only this time I studied the different shades of blue in the garden and it's within a box.

Wildflowers and Weeds...
A small acrylic painting of the wildflowers and weeds growing in the allotment, painted onto driftwood.
Entangled Carrier...
An abandoned carrier bag caught in the barbed wire, just to add a bit of texture really.
Grow your own...
A little collage created using the pages of a publication instructing the reader on how to get the most from their allotment.

Potato...
Back to playing with potatoes for a little while.
Barbed Wire...
Another section of the artist's book I am creating in response to an allotment, this is a piece of barbed wire within a small wooden frame, with perspex back. I've hung a little tag onto the barbed wire with the first couple of lines of a poem on it. I'm nearly finished all the separate sections of the book, just have to join them together in concertina fashion, then put what I've learnt from this to use within my main project!

Roker...
Looking rather beautiful this evening.
On patrol...
Just a little photograph taken about five minutes ago out my window. It's the border patrol vessel, watching over my place! It's making sure nobody messes with my new garden, I recommend hiring one of these to anybody, providing you live by the sea.

I made a garden...
All this allotment themed work really makes me miss the colour green, living at the beach is lovely but plants don't seem to appreciate being outside. Forced to face the harsh North Sea air, they tend to crinkle up and look sad, so they end up living out the rest of their days in the kitchen. So I decided to gradually build up a garden using artificial plants! I only have two at the moment though, but I'll get there. I'm really proud, I think I've been on the balcony about fifty times in the past two days admiring it and fussing over it. Small pleasures. x

Garden Trellis...
Homemade trellis with creeping vine entwined (twigs, garden wire and paper!).
Clouds...
A small section on clouds to feature in my artist's book.
Garden Chair...
Inspired by a photograph I took on a previous visit to the allotment, I wanted to work with an abandoned garden chair, I came up with a little verse to work alongside it. 'In the realm overgrown, weeds engulf synthetic throne.'

Mosaic...
This is a little mosaic created using little fragments of pottery, glass and rocks found in the allotment, put together in a random fashion.

Seed Markers...
Another section of the book I am working on, little homemade seed markers, compost and lots of PVA glue holding it all in place.
Digging...
A garden shovel, flattened and adapted to work into my allotment themed artists book.

Roker Pier...
Took advantage of such a beautiful day and had a wander along the beach and on to the pier with my Dad, collecting bits of washed up pottery along the way, I need various bits and pieces to create a little mosaic to put in the artists book I'm making.
